Duties

Be aware: India charges a flat effective rate of about 42% of the CIF value (item + shipping) on personal imports arriving by courier — 10% basic customs duty + surcharge + 28% IGST, regardless of product category (CTH 9804). The old Rs 5,000 duty-free gift rule was abolished in 2019, so "mark it as a gift" no longer works. This is why the India route makes most sense for products that are unavailable in India or much cheaper abroad — and why we always show the duty in your quote upfront.
